YIELD TO THE SPIRIT AND THE WORD
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. Through the Word, the servant of God becomes fully equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Many desire the Holy Spirit’s guidance but are unsure how to truly yield to Him. While bowing your head or kneeling shows respect, physical actions alone will not bring about the guidance you need.
To yield to the Holy Spirit, you must submit to His Word. Follow what He tells you and allow the Word of God to guide your life. The Holy Spirit is the author of Scripture, and He primarily leads us through the Word.
God said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” (Hosea 4:6). He encourages you to “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).
As you study the Word, you will hear the Holy Spirit's leading more clearly. You will recognize His voice. The Word of God and the Spirit of God testify about Jesus, the Living Word. He said, “Search the scriptures… they are they which testify of me" (John 5:39).
He also said, “But when the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me” (John 15:26). The more you let the Word of God fill your mind, decisions, and view of life, the more the Holy Spirit will guide you from victory to victory. Right now, declare that God’s Word has power over your life. Let it lead, control, and guide you in everything you do.
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the inner guidance I receive from your Spirit as I study your Word. I open my spirit to be more receptive to your guidance so that I may know your thoughts, plans, and purpose for my life, and walk in them, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
